Family Outdoor (Indoor) Movie Night

This post is sponsored by Orville Redenbacher. As always, all ideas & opinions expressed are my own.

us weeekly movie night

With cooler weather heading our way we have to get creative and figure out how to revamp the classic family pastimes to keep the family entertained. Movie Night is one of my favorites; it’s a great way to sit down as a family and spend some quality time together. With these awesome tips and ideas you are going to go down in history as the best movie night host ever. Or that will be what your kids will think of you, at the very least.

us weeekly movie night

Inspired by Orville Redenbacher's Popcorn, I set out to create an outdoor movie experience—but indoors. I wanted to keep the theme as authentic as possible and I did not want to watch the movie on our TV. So I did some research and found out that many libraries rent out projectors. My local library does not, but my friend that lives a town over told me her library did, so she volunteered to rent the projector for me. (Check with your local library, you may be in luck!) You don't need a fancy screen, you can simply layer two white sheets and you are set to go. Once you set up your screen, you want to set some blankets on the floor; I added some pillows to make it cozy and extra comfortable. To add to the fun and excitement you can have your kids create DIY tickets beforehand, and even set up a pretend ticket booth, allowing them to enjoy a little pretend play before show time.  Last but not least, the popcorn! Take your Orville Redenbacher's Popcorn, put it in the microwave right before movie time and prepare everyone for the show. I really hope you guys enjoyed these quick and easy tips for creating the best "outdoor movie night" indoors.

Cape Blazer

road trip
Hat: H&M | Cape: Nasty Gal | Top: Zara | Boots: Aldo | Chain: Bebe | Lippie: Stila- aria (04)

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I attended the We all Grow NYC summit this past weekend. It was the perfect fall day so I decided to wear my favorite cape blazer from Nasty Gal because I'm just not over it and it makes any outfit look so chic. As soon as I decided to wear the cape blazer,  the rest of the outfit was a breeze to put together.  I got so many compliments on the blazer, it was definitely a hit.
Speaking of hits, lets talk about  We All Grow Summit. It was an entire of day of inspiration and networking  and I had such a great time. The folks from Latina Bloggers Connect definitely went all out to make this event a successful one. If you are a blogger I highly recommend that you look into the We All Grow Summit in LA. It is much bigger than the one I attended here in NYC, but if the NYC one was a preview of what is to come I definitely do not want to miss out on the next one. I learned so much and I left the event super inspired and ready to implement so many of the tips and advice I received from the speakers/mentors. So get ready for some new and exciting changes on the blog and my social media and lets attend the summit together! let me know if you are going .

Dia De Los Muertos Sin Traducción

This post is sponsored by Target. As always, all opinions expressed are my own.

Dia De Los Muertos Sin Traducción

Dia De Los Muertos Sin Traducción

Dia De Los Muertos Sin Traducción

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and Central America that is quickly becoming very popular in the United States, and I am loving it. I love the tradition behind Dia de los Muertos, and I love that I can find decorations for it at my favorite one-stop shop: Target. One of my favorite things to do this time of year is host different crafts parties for my kids and their friends. With colder weather heading our way, we are left with very few options for things to do with the kids. I decided to host a Dia de los Muertos party, and I stopped at my local Target for some inspiration. Not only were the decorations options at Target endless and beyond adorable, but Dia de los Muertos is also a great new cultural tradition to teach the kids.

Dia de los Muertos celebrates the lives of the deceased with food, drinks, parties, and activities the dead enjoyed while they were alive. Some of the most used symbols for Dia de los Muertos are the calacas and calaveras (skeletons and skulls), which happened to be what caught my attention while searching the aisles at Target. They are found in sweets, as parade masks, as dolls, and much more.

I wanted to decorate my table with all the color and liveliness that is associated with Dia de los Muertos—and lots of calaveras. I found some amazing skull cups at the never disappointing dollar spot, and the best pack of foam stickers. I was able to put foam stickers in areas that needed some color, such as on the net I placed over the tablecloth. I also used the bone stickers from that same pack of stickers on the skull cups as markers to avoid any confusion as to whose cup was whose.

For treats, I made goody bags with caramel popcorn, spooky eyeball gumballs, and candy I found in the candy aisle. I knew the kids were most likely going to empalagarse (have too much of a sweet thing), but since it's not an everyday thing, I'm OK with it.

When planning special activities and events for the kids, I like to make sure they're easy and affordable. I love that I created this entire table for less than $100, and that I was able to shop at one store and in record time. It was all there for me to just grab and go. Kudos to Target for being so diverse and including traditions from other cultures in their holiday aisles. It inspired me to create new traditions with my kids.

Baby Mantra Review & Giveaway

Baby Mantra

When it comes to our kids, we all want the best of everything and that is especially important when choosing skin care and bath products for our precious little ones. Knowing what you put on your little ones skin is so important and the less complicated the list of ingredients the better. So when Baby Mantra asked me to try their allergy tested, gluten-free, dye-free, toxin-free, cruelty-free, all natural ingredients products I was all in.  I tested all 6 products pictured above but wanted to share my personal favorites because they worked out so great and my kids loved them.

Baby mantra

The Calming Massage Oil & Calming Lotion.
This was all new to me I actually never used a massage oil or calming lotion on my kids and I have to say the kids and I have been missing out. My youngest (1yr.old) enjoyed the massage oil the most. It was a great bonding time and since he's been feeling a little under the weather he is definitely enjoying a little extra pampering before bedtime. What I loved most about the massage oil is that it can be used from head to toe, the ingredients in the oil also help nourish hair from the inside out so you can massage your little ones from their scalp to their little toes.
The calming lotion was my six year olds favorite. She is very independent and loves doing everything on her own . I usually have to help her with lotion bottles that do not have a pump because she tends to pour too much product. So when we received this calming lotion with a pump she was ecstatic because she could apply this on her own. All I had to do was tell her the exact number of pumps she needed. The combination of shea butter and lavender oil give off a subtle scent that is not over powering. The lotion itself is very light and leaves the skin moisturized without the oily residue.

3-in-1 Bubble Bath, Shampoo + Wash
I usually stay away from 3-in-1 products because I feel like they dry out the skin and I don't mind spending a few extra minutes using individual products. I was originally skeptical about the 3-in-1, but I was pleasantly surprised with the 3-in-1 after using it.  Baby Mantra's all natural bubble bath does not bubble up like synthetic bubble baths, in order to get bubbles you need to pour under running water and shake it up. It was extra fun for the kids to "create" bubbles by splashing and shaking it up under the water. If you are going to try a 3-in-1 definitely try this one out. Like the rest of Baby Mantra's products this had a light natural scent and it did not dry out their skin.

Detangling Conditioner
One of the most dreaded tasks during bath time is detangling my daughters very fine hair. I've tried it all and it seems like all hair products for kids are two in one or leave in. When I saw that the baby Mantra detangling conditioner was just that, a conditioner, I was beyond excited to give it a try. I immediately loved that one of the ingredients in the conditioner is coconut. I use coconut oil on my hair and I know the benefits from it are amazing.  It was definitely easier to detangle my daughters hair with this product and it cut our detangling time in half because she wasn't running away from me.

I was really pleased with the Baby mantra products and I recommend them to anyone looking for natural baby skin care.  If you would like to try the products here is a $2.50 coupon to use towards your purchase: http://www.babymantra.com/coupons.

Road Trip & Exciting Announcement

road trip

Last weekend my family and I hit the road and drove to Boston. It was our first road trip as a family and I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew I had to dress comfortable for the 3 1/2 hour trip, so I went with my favorite denim shirt dress from Target and some super comfortable slips on shoes from Steve Madden. The road trip was so much fun, the kids were so well behaved and eager to explore a new city. As soon as we arrived to Boston we dropped our bags at our hotel and headed out to explore.
We walked up and down Newbury street had lunch at Stephanie's on Newbury and did a little shopping. Boston has so much history and is so charming I could have walked for days. I absolutely fell in love with Boston and definitely plan on going back soon.

Outdoor Movie Night in Boston

This post is sponsored by Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn via Mode Media as always all opinions are my own.
Outdoor Movie Night

Last weekend my family and I enjoyed an outdoor movie at the Prudential Center Garden in Boston. The night was perfect; a little chilly, but they provided cozy blankets for us to use. This was a first for my family and I; we always watch movies at indoor movie theaters or inside the comfort of our home. This is now my favorite way of watching a movie. We can't wait to re-create something like it in our own backyard.
Our first stop that night was the photo booth, where we were able to pick from an array of amazing props to create a 7 second flip book. Of course my daughter and I were pros at it, but my husband and son were a little confused as to what they were suppose to do. Needless to say the results were hilarious and definitely captured who we are. Then we headed straight to the US Weekly & Orville Redenbacher's Popcorn concession stand. When we got there they had just started a fresh batch and my son was amazed watching all the popcorn fall out as they popped.
Once we selected our spot on the beautiful green lawn, my kids immediately made their way to the giant coloring book activity area. This was the first time I've ever seen anything like it and I want one! This is a genius way to keep the kids entertained for a long time, and in this case was perfect for keeping them happy while we waited for the movie to start. Once the movie began, the kids settled down and just watched the whole thing in awe. My daughter was really impressed and said that we needed a "blow up TV" because she wants to watch movies in our backyard from now on. I told her we can have our own version soon but that the "blow up TV" might have to wait.
This was an amazing trip and event for my family; any time I get to spend with them and experience new things is always a great time. I love that we can re-create this and do this at home to create a fun family movie night that the kids will love and remember.
